After years of hot drought, summer actually arrived this year in SF. It’s been freezing. Colder than February, even.
This year, June and July has alternated between spots of blue sky visible between gusts of frozen, salty fog, or an absolute blanket of white fog with cold mist sprinkled in for good measure. Every day starts out in the low 50s.
On the one hand, this is excellent news for coastal trees and my personal feelings of impending scorched doom.
On the other…stores are full of twirly cotton dresses and we can’t wear any of them. (Well, until those two weeks in October.)
So, sitting here this morning in my two layers of fleece, these are the dresses I’m eyeballing with dreams of sweltering summers, sandy East Coast beaches, and lots of water ice.

J. Crew Gingham Short Sleeve Dress This reminds me of my mom in the early 80s. Also, this lady probably owns a proper wicker picnic basket.

Rachel Comey Altea Dress Ohhhh, you guys, this might be my favorite. That little halter tie detail? It’s like instant beach. It’s going to be warm enough in October, right? I’ll be able to wear this some day?
